Trump Says Desantis Bribed IA Evangelical Leader for Endorsement
Trump continues his scored-earth strategy against Iowa political and religious leaders who fail to endorse him. He has taken shots at Gov. Kim Reynolds, Senator Joni Ernst, and now influential evangelical leader Bob Vander Plaats.
After Desantis's campaign, a PAC supporting him, and allies paid Vander Plaats's Family Leader Foundation $95,000, Desantis was promoted to their audience at an event, and all signs point to a coveted Vander Plaats endorsement for Desantis.
Trump fired off a post on Truth Social, claiming that Desantis and his allies were bribing Vander Plaats for his endorsement.
Vander Plaats fired back at Trump, calling his post an "acknowledgement of fear" that he might lose Iowa.
Trump, who certainly started the campaign with a massive lead in Iowa, seems determined to do everything he can to give the state away with one stupid move after another.
