Trump Shushes Crowd Calling for Hostage Release So He Can Brag About His Success
An awkward moment ensued during Trump's campaign event in the The Bronx Thursday. Several times during Trump's speech the crowd starting chanting "bring them home," referencing the American and Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza following the October 7th attacks.
After claiming multiple hostages have died because the 2020 election was rigged against him, Trump shushed members of the crowd who again started chanting, "bring them home."
Trump abruptly switched the topic of his speech from the way hostages were being treated by Hamas, to promoting his business success plan.
"When I saw the way they were treated, when I saw the way they were thrown into the cars and how horribly they were treated...many of those hostages are dead," Trump said. "It would have never happened if the election weren't rigged. If I were your President they would have never done it."
Then Trump immediately switched topics saying, "because we have so many young people here today I want to talk just for a moment about success. Do you remember I used to give talks on success before politics?"
When several members of the crowd continued to chant for the release of the hostages, Trump quickly shushed them so he could continue to give his "success" pep talk.
"Ok that's enough," Trump said. "We're going to do it...we're going to get them home. It's a rough situation. But remember we used to give talks on success?"
It seems Trump could only spare so much empathy for the families of the hostages still being held by Hamas, after promising the crowd they were dead, so that he had time to deliver advice on professional development, which was really just an opportunity to push the myth of his own "success."
