Trump Posts Claim He's Divinely Appointed by God to Be President
Trump posted an RSBN article and a video clip of his daughter-in-law Lara Trump claiming he has been divinely appointed by God to be president again. Trump has recently endorsed Lara Trump to become the RNC co-chair.
On Truth Social Thursday, Trump posted an RSBN article titled, "Donald J. Trump was made for 'such a time as this." This language often used among evangelical Christians and comes from the book of Esther which provides the traditional source for the Jewish holiday Purim. In the story, Esther is appointed queen and is challenged to address the king to announce a plot to exterminate the Jews by a recently elevated noble named Haman.
If Esther approached the king without an invitation, should could have been executed. Her relative, Mordecai, encouraged Esther to go anyway suggesting that Esther had been appointed by God for the very task:
Esther 4:12 (NIV): "And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?"
The phrase "such a time as this" carries with it a meaning of divine appointment to a position. As RSBN writer Summer Lane wrote in the Trump-shared article:
"Indeed, God has given America the leadership it needs, even in these distressing and tumultuous times. Donald Trump was the president nobody saw coming, and when he burst onto the political scene years ago, it changed the nation and the world."
Lane then likened Trump to Queen Esther and urged people of faith to vote for Trump.
Trump also posted video of Lara Trump's comments noting that Trump "was made for such a time as this, because let's be honest, no one else, without the help of the Almighty would be able to withstand the attacks."
Trump has been wrapping himself up in religious language attempting to appeal to faith voters. Lane wrote in her RSBN article that some faith voters still refuse to vote for Trump. If Trump is going to get back into office, he is going to need these voters. Claiming God sent you is probably not going to win them over.
