Trump Nominee Threatened Doctor With Bullet Hole Target Sheet Per Restraining Order
Trump’s recent nomination of Christine Toretti for ambassador to Sweden raises concerns, given her troubling history and failed previous nomination.
In 2019 and 2020, Toretti, a businesswoman and GOP fundraiser, was nominated by Trump to be ambassador to Malta, but her nomination was repeatedly blocked by the Senate due to questions over her qualifications.
On Truth Social, Trump touted Toretti's credentials, including her leadership roles at S&T Bancorp and the Pittsburgh Federal Reserve Bank However, as reported by Politico. her background also includes a disturbing incident that cannot be overlooked.
In 2008, the AZ Daily Sun reported that Toretti, then known as Christine Olson, was the subject of a restraining order after she allegedly placed multiple phone calls and then left a threatening, bullet-riddled target sheet in the office of Dr. Steven Knope, the doctor of her former husband, Lute Olson:
“Around 3 p.m., she arrived at the medical office and ‘behaved in a threatening manner’ to staff members, according to the order.”
After waiting 20 minutes, she walked past the reception area and to Knope's office, according to court documents. Upon entering the office, she placed a target-practice sheet on his desk chair. It contained 25 bullet holes in the paper head and body, the report said.”
This act, which led to a restraining order being issued against her, raises serious questions about Toretti’s judgment and temperament.
