"Craziness ...in His Head"— Trump Erased Black Voters' Comments from an Article During Black History Month
MeidasTouch has found yet another media manipulated article posted by Trump on Truth Social. This one was also posted on both February 3rd and 4th. This is the 14th altered article uncovered by MeidasTouch in February where Trump shared a news organization’s logo, title, and byline, but had the article scrubbed of content he didn't like.
This time, Trump's article redactions target comments from Black voters reported by right wing outlet Daily Caller and writer Jason Cohen. These comments were made during an MSNBC interview with Black voters.
The original article titled, “‘With Trump, We Had Money’: What These Black Voters Told MSNBC Could Spell Bad News For Biden,” can be found on Daily Caller's webpage here, and Trump’s manipulated version appears below for comparison.
Trump scrubbed portions of quotes appearing in the Daily Caller taken from Black voters interviewing with MSNBC's Trymaine Lee. Trump's first erasure was a portion of a quote from Thomas Murray indicated that Trump may have "craziness ...in his head."
Trump's second erased comment was from Black voter Juston Brown. Brown stated that people "want to enjoy the perks that [Trump] has", and Trump "seems to always be able to circumvent the rules.”
In Trump's third erasure, the GOP frontrunner scrubbed a part of a quote from Kinard Givens who was relaying what some of his friends thought about Biden and Trump. Trump's manipulation of the article cut off Givens' remarks which makes it appear that Givens supports Trump, instead of what he full comments actually say.
A comparison of the two paragraphs, one from the Daily Caller and the manipulated one from Trump, show how Trump's redactions change the meaning, cutting off the implication that Givens has moral reservation against voting for Trump.
The Daily Caller already was selecting favorable clips from MSNBC interview with Black voters to cast Trump in the most positive light. That wasn't good enough for the GOP frontrunner, so he erased quotes from 3 Black voters during Black History Month. Trump wants only positive lines, and these 3 Black voters' voices were getting in the way.
