Trump's pick for Florida GOP Vice Chairman marched with Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio in 2018 against Democratic candidate Donna Shalala's congressional campaign office where she was meeting with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Florida author and writer Grant Stern's 2018 reporting linked the FL GOP's protest against Pelosi with the Proud Boys.

Protesters including Cabrera, who was wearing a black top, banged their fists repeatedly on the door interrupting their meeting and disturbing Shalala's campaign office. Cabrera can be heard shouting and holding a protest sign implying Democrats are communists.

Cabrera continued pounding on the door even someone from inside Shalala's office opened the door to ask them to stop. After the door closed, Cabrera continued pounding.

In video from the event, protesters can be heard cussing at Pelosi. Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio yelled:

"Open up! It's the Proud Boys in here."

The protest prompted a rebuke from GOP Senator Marco Rubio and an apology from the Miami-Dade GOP chairman Nelson Diaz who was also present at the event and pounded on the door. Trump wants to install a person in one of the highest positions in the Florida GOP who marched with the Proud Boys. Stand back and stand by.
