Trump Calls for Liz Cheney to be Executed by Firing Squad
Donald Trump called for former Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney to be executed by firing squad in a horrifying rant on Thursday night. Cheney, who has long drawn the wrath of MAGA for leading the January 6th Committee in the House and endorsing Kamala Harris, is another of Trump's stated "enemy within" along with Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi.
Trump was discussing former Vice President Dick Cheney's support of Harris during an interview with Tucker Carlson when the conversation turned to Liz:
Even the MAGA crowd, which had been laughing at Trump's description of Liz Cheney's intelligence, fell to stunned silence at Trump's blatant death threat issued to the former Congresswoman.
Liz Cheney responded with a post on X saying, "This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten those who speak against them with death. We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who wants to be a tyrant. #womenwillnotbesilenced #VoteKamala"
Trump's threat is just another in the long list of comments and actions that disqualifies him from the office of President of the United States. But Donald Trump isn't president yet, and not yet subject to the official immunity granted to that office by the United States Supreme Court. For now, he is a private citizen making a death threat to another private citizen.
Time will tell if Trump becomes president and the power to execute political opponents by firing squad is the type of "official" presidential power for which Trump will be granted immunity by SCOTUS.
