Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick has announced that state lawmakers will move to ban all forms of consumable THC in the state of Texas. This will be a priority for Texas lawmakers as they enter the next legislative session scheduled to start in the coming weeks.

Despite a national push to legalize recreational marijuana around the nation, and with several ballot initiatives passing in states, Texas Republicans are charting a different course on the issue. 

According to a new press release issued by Patrick, "retailers exploited the [state's] agriculture law to sell life-threatening, unregulated forms of THC to the public and made them easily accessible." As a result, he is now pushing for a ban on THC, despite widespread opposition from many in the state. 

This legislation will likely pass at some point during the next special session. Read the full release from Patrick below:
