Restaurant Responds to David Brooks: Bar Tab Was 80% of Bill
New York Times columnist David Brooks set off one of the all-time worst social media ratios in history when he posted his tweet last night complaining about how much his meal cost.
Brooks indicated that the supposedly outrageous cost of his meal was an indication of how bad the economy was.
Seemed a bit pricey for a cheeseburger and fries, but what is that libation in the back?
Well, the restaurant owner or manager didn't take too kindly to Brooks giving people the impression that a burger costs big bucks at their restaurant. The '1911 Smoke House Barbeque' noted that almost 80% of his bill was his bar tab.
Sometimes the best tweets are the ones you don't hit 'send' on.
The smokehouse went even further as the day went on, created a new special in honor of David Brooks - a burger combo with a scotch for just $17.78.
