The convict convention is in full swing as Peter Navarro has been released from federal prison this morning and is on his way to Milwaukee where he will be giving a primetime address at the Republican National Convention. Previously, Navarro was convicted by a D.C. federal jury of two counts of contempt of congress for defying a lawful Congressional subpoena from the January 6th Committee.

While Navarro tried desperately to remain out of prison pending his appeal, his requests were consistently denied. Following his conviction, Navarro was sentenced to four months in federal prison, where, according to his prison consultant, he worked as a law library clerk.

Navarro has now been released from the facility after serving his sentence and is on his way to Wisconsin where he will be addressing the Republican National Convention and will discuss his new found appreciation for criminal justice reform.

Navarro follows a pattern of speakers who are either convicted felons themselves or associated with convicted felons. Last night, Savannah Chrisley, the daughter of Todd and Julie Chrisley (both of whom are currently incarcerated) spoke at the RNC. Tomorrow night, former President Donald Trump is expected to speak. Trump is a convicted felon after being convicted of 34 felony counts in New York earlier this year.
