Pete Hegseth Said He “Would Smother” a Baby to Protect Himself

Trump’s Defense nominee also said he “probably wouldn’t” sell his daughter sexually to survive.

In a November 2015 appearance on Fox News' late-night show Red Eye, commentator Pete Hegseth engaged in a discussion about hypothetical scenarios presented. Hegseth was asked to weigh in on three moral dilemmas: whether he would kill baby Hitler, smother a crying baby to protect others from enemy soldiers, or resort to extreme measures, such as pimping out his daughter, to save his starving family.

Hegseth affirmed that he would kill baby Hitler, albeit with some hesitation. “Here’s a one-year-old Hitler. You know, looks all cuddly and nice. Wonder if you could just reform him. You’d have to do it,” he remarked, acknowledging the moral complexity of such a decision.

The conversation took a darker turn as Hegseth addressed the second scenario, stating, “I’d like to think I would smother the baby,” while expressing discomfort with the moral implications. However, when it came to the third scenario involving his daughter, he stated, “I probably wouldn’t sell my daughter.” Probably.

Trump's Defense nominee Hegseth’s remarks, while made in the context of a discussion of hypotheticals, means he is on the record stating he would smother to death a baby. MeidasTouch previously uncovered that Hegseth argued that soldiers shouldn't be prosecuted for killing civilians in certain scenarios.
