Over 60 million people have voted early, either by mail or in-person, in the run up to election day on November 5th. 28.1 million mail ballots have been returned, with a total of 66 million mail ballots requested. 32.1 million early votes have been cast in-person.

Democrats currently hold a slight edge in early voting, with 11.4 million Democrats voting early (38.6 % of registered Democrats) and 10.7 million Republicans (36.3 % of registered Republicans) according to data gathered from two dozen states by the University of Florida Election Lab

In what is potentially good news for Donald Trump, 40% of all early voters have been aged 65+, with only 7% of 18-25 year-olds voting early so far. But to counter that number, early voting for women has trounced men, 54% to 43%; a clear edge for Vice President Kamala Harris in an election that has seen a record gender gap in support between the candidates.

Despite railing against early voting in 2020 and claiming mail-in voter fraud stole the election for Joe Biden, Trump has flip-flopped in 2024 and called on his supporters to vote early and vote by mail. Time will tell if MAGA voters respond with enough numbers, however, after years of repeated calls from the right to dismantle mail-in voting in the U.S.

In the battleground state of Georgia, over 45% of registered voters have voted early so far, the largest early voting turnout in the state's history according to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

In the battleground states:

  • 3.6 million have voted early in North Carolina
  • 3.5 million have voted early in Georgia
  • 2.1 million have voted early in Michigan
  • 1.9 million have voted early in Ohio
  • 1.8 million have voted in Arizona
  • 1.5 million have voted in early in Pennsylvania
  • 872K have voted early in Nevada

While early voting is a smart and efficient way to make sure your vote gets counted without having to take time off work to stand in line on Election Day, those who have already voted may have done so without being aware of Donald Trump's shocking physical deterioration that has manifested more acutely in the past few weeks. Video emerged Wednesday of Donald Trump struggling to walk and get into a garbage truck during a stunt designed to mock Joe Biden:
