Oops! Lara Trump’s New Duet Partner Shared Taylor Swift's Criticism of Trump
Lara Trump posted about her new duet "Hero" this morning and tagged the recording artist, Madeline Jaymes, who appears alongside her in it. Lara Trump may not be aware of Jaymes' past social media activity.
As it turns out, Madeline Jaymes, who has also gone by Madeline James and Maddie Driscoll, has social media activity uncovered by MeidasTouch that, let's just say, doesn't line up with the MAGA Republican agenda.
1. Taylor Swift's criticism of Trump
In 2019, Jaymes retweeted Taylor Swift's letter to her Republican Senator Lamar Alexander asking him to vote for the Equality Act protecting LGBTQ rights. Many Republicans opposed the measure.
Swift's 2019 letter addressed Trump as well:
"I personally reject the President's stance that his administration 'support equal treatment of all,' but that the Equality Act, 'in its current form is filled with poison pills that threaten to undermine parental and conscience rights.'"
2. Equality Act
Jaymes posted support for the Equality Act and asked other to sign a petition for it.
3. Trump a symptom of racism
Jaymes liked a tweet from Chance the Rapper stating that the "Trump presidency is one of the many symptoms" of "division and racism in this country."
4. Count all the votes
Jaymes liked a November 2020 tweet from artist Sara Bareilles, who is critical of Trump, countering the 2020 election MAGA narrative complaining about states taking time to count all their votes. Trump ultimately lost and we all know how that went.
5. BLM black square
Jaymes posted a black square with "Black Lives Matter" written across it. MAGA Republicans have mocked those who posted the black square and generally don't even like the phrase "Black Lives Matter."
6. History lesson thread on racial oppression in the United States
Jaymes reposted author Erica Buddington who traced the police brutally protests for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery back through history. MAGA Republicans often ignore how history has shaped the present. You won't find Lara Trump posting anything like this anytime soon.
7. Gun violence protest
Jaymes appeared in a photo of a gun violence protest in reaction to the Parkland school shooting in February 2018. Jaymes appears next to students holding signs reading "enough is enough" and "how many more."
Lara Trump likely didn't know about all of these "woke" ideas. As far as why Jaymes would record a song with one of the most divisive families in the history of the United States, one could only speculate. The MAGA career reboot path tempts many.
