MTG Posts Upside-Down Flag, Calls On Americans To Fly Flags Upside-Down
Just days after inciting a verbal fracas in the House Oversight Committee meeting, MAGA Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) posted an upside-down flag on her X account Wednesday, with a call for Americans to do the same in solidarity with Justice Samuel Alito and the Trump insurrectionist movement.
Alito was slammed by Democrats after an image of an upside-down flag at his Virginia home flown in the days following the January 6th attack on the capitol was unearthed by The New York Times.
In her post, Greene accuses Democrats of waging war on Donald Trump by using the "full power of the justice system the minute they took power." Greene then calls on Americans to fly their flags upside-down in solidarity with Alito.
"Now Democrats are going after Justice Alito for an upside down flag being flown at his house," Greene posted. "WE SHOULD ALL BE FLYING THE FLAG UPSIDE DOWN!!!"
The upside-down flag was widely used as a symbol of the "Stop the Steal" movement, which organized the protest in Washington, D.C. on January 6th that turned violent. Alito claimed his wife hung the flag upside-down at his house in response to anti-Trump signs in his neighbor's yard.
The uproar over Alito's flying a symbol of the Trump insurrectionist movement, now being echoed by Greene, led Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin (D-IL) to issue a statement demanding that Alito recuse himself from all cases involving the 2020 election.
Trump's case on Presidential immunity is currently before the highest court.
