Millions Being Set Aside by RNC to Challenge 2024 Election
With the most litigious man in the history of the planet, who has been involved as plaintiff or defendant in over 4,200 lawsuits in his lifetime, now in complete control of the Republican National Committee, it is gearing up to spend an unprecedented amount of money it raises this year on pre and post-election "integrity" challenges. The RNC is setting aside a significant pool of money it is raising this year to fund election lawsuits and challenges rather than political campaigns.
Their team of lawyers will now be led by Trump lawyer, former OAN host, and crackpot election fraud conspiracy theorist Christina Bobb, who mused before the 2022 midterms that a Republican House of Representatives could overturn the 2020 election and restore Trump to the presidency in 2023. Bobb has been brought into the RNC off the Trump PAC payroll to serve as "Senior Counsel for Election Integrity."
As first reported by Daily Beast, while the RNC has a paltry $11 million in total cash on hand, far less than the DNC and well below what they had at this point in 2020, not all of that money can be used for political purposes. Of the $22.3 million in total the RNC has raised this year, $4 million of that has been donated to a specific "legal fund" that is being used to fund the 40 pending election lawsuits the RNC has pending around the country over a variety of issues such as rules for mail-in voting.
This fund allows donors to circumvent the rules on max donations for political purposes, but the money they give must remain in a separate account dedicated for a non-political efforts. While total fundraising has been well below that of the DNC, the RNC's spending is much higher and a much larger percentage of the money being raised on lawsuits and lawyers. The amount of spending on lawyers is likely to get exponentially worse as we get closer to the election.
With Christina Bobb leading a team of conspiracy theorists with access to the RNC's checkbook, it is likely that we will see a cornucopia a lawsuits and challenges of "fraud" being launched all across the country. Additionally, it is highly likely with Trump presently spending an estimated $200,000 a day in legal fees, which will only get worse as his criminal cases and civil appeals ramp up, that RNC money will continue to be siphoned off to fund Trump's Save America PAC.
So, while the DNC has millions pouring in and a tight operation dedicated to helping win over voters by hiring staff and running ads, the RNC is stuck in a quagmire of fiscally draining election fraud conspiracies, with no shortage of lawyers lining up with their hands out ready to put their law licenses and reputations on the line to file spurious challenges. And all that doesn't even take into account the money that will have to be set aside to challenge results after election day, which is surely part of the plan as well.
Trump continues to hire crazy, incompetent people, while spending nearly as much as he brings in on things that don't help either himself or other Republican candidates win at the ballot box. The difference between the competence and quality of the operations of the RNC/Trump Campaign versus the DNC/Biden Campaign is stark, and very much in Democrats' favor.
