Marjorie Taylor Greene Falsely Claims Ukraine is Harvesting Children's Organs
On the Charlie Kirk show, Marjorie Taylor Greene said she would vote to shutdown the government if any budget proposal or continuing resolution funded Ukraine. Greene then claimed Ukraine is sex trafficking children and harvesting their organs:
"And over in Ukraine, Charlie, by the way we haven't even talked about this, the country that Mitch McConnell and Schumer and Lindsay Graham and Tom Cotton and everybody can't wait to give another 100 billion dollars to, Ukraine is one of the worst countries on the Earth for child sex trafficking and they're harvesting children's organs over there."
The idea that Ukraine is involved in child sex abuse, trafficking, and organ harvesting is popular among the QAnon crowd who often frames Russia as liberating children from the hands of Ukraine to justify the invasion.
According to the AP, organ harvesting hoaxes were spread by "pro-Russian hackers" attempting to sow discord between Ukraine and allies, as well as to spread fear in the invaded country and similar claims have made their way into English-language social media platforms:
"The organ harvesting hoax was further amplified by Russian state media and ultimately seeped into English-language websites and platforms. It can now be found on major platforms including Twitter and Telegram, where Russian forces are portrayed as the saviors of trafficking victims."
Clips from these unverified social media accounts have found their way onto popular right wing accounts, fueling disinformation and further conspiracy theories.
In July, Newsweek debunked a claim of a supposed Ukraine "organ harvesting victims 'mass grave'" that went viral on Twitter.
Kremlin backed media and individuals have also spread this conspiracy theory as justification for invading Ukraine.
This isn't the first time Greene has spread conspiracy theories about Ukraine. Greene once said that the Ukraine war was waged to cover up evidence against Joe Biden. Just a reminder that Ukraine was invaded.
Marjorie Taylor Greene once called "Q" a "patriot," and implied Q was helping Trump take down a global cabal of Satan worshipping pedophiles.
Greene called out several Republicans above for supporting Ukraine, is again pushing conspiracy theories popular with the QAnon crowd, and is citing this one as justification for leading the country into a government shutdown. Greene has shared no credible proof that the Ukraine government is involved in child organ harvesting, yet the representative from Georgia has no problem spreading Kremlin disinformation.
