The European Federation of Journalists has officially announced that it will no longer be posting on Twitter starting on January 20, 2025, the day Donald Trump is sworn into office. The President of the EFJ slammed Elon Musk in a statement following the group's announcement:

The EFJ currently represents the largest number of journalists out of any group in Europe, with more than 290,000 journalists making up their ranks from more than 40 countries across the continent.

The decision to leave Twitter on the day Trump is inaugurated highlights the threat a Trump Administration will pose to freedom of press. It is unclear if the journalists associated with the EFJ will join other platforms or if they will remain off social media.
